Work Counts is pleased to share an updated coverage map showing where IPS employment support can be found in Aotearoa. The refreshed map provides a snapshot of current services available.
Not only does the map show integration in secondary mental health services, but in this 2024 edition, we have included IPS employment support that can be accessed as part of housing and other settings. A set of appendices contains more detail about the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) staff and integrated sites, as well as funding sources.
The 10 organisations displayed in the map either provide services where they are contracted for delivery of an IPS programme, have completed training in IPS employment support, and/or have recently had an IPS employment support fidelity review. For people considering a career in this area, it’s a growing workforce that started in 2000 with one employment consultant.
What we can learn from the map is that IPS employment support has grown in Aotearoa to 103 FTE integrated in 87 mental health teams, across 12 health districts, as of May 2024.
“People seeking IPS employment support within mental health services need to know where they can access this support. We hope this resource helps people connect with the right resources easily,” says Warren Elwin, Chief Executive of Work Counts.
It also provides an opportunity for healthcare providers, case managers, and other support systems to refer people more efficiently to IPS employment support if they know where they are located.
