Work Counts is pleased to announce that Robert Williams has been appointed as our new IPS implementation manager. Robert started in the role at the end of March 2024.
A long-standing team leader for Workwise in Auckland, Robert brings a high level of experience in integrating employment consultants with clinical mental health teams. A great problem-solver, Robert genuinely cares about his work in employment support. Aside from his experience in IPS, including as a fidelity reviewer, we look forward to the leadership qualities that Robert brings – his compassion, listening skills and ability to bring out the strengths of others.
We asked Robert to share some information about himself and joining Work Counts.
What are you looking forward to most in your role with Work Counts?
I’m thrilled and honoured to be the new IPS Implementation Manager for Work Counts.
As a passionate IPS practitioner myself for the past 13 years, I am deeply committed to fostering connections, sharing insights and igniting discussions promoting IPS and the value of employment as a health intervention. With my own experiences as an employment consultant, IPS Supervisor and Fidelity Reviewer, I’m eager to contribute to the collective growth and learning journey in this space.
What brought you to Work Counts?
I’ve been an IPS practitioner since 2012 with Workwise. Prior to that, I was a community support worker where I also did employment support for people with intellectual disabilities.
What are some of your achievements working in IPS employment support?
As an employment consultant, I achieved top results in the country in 2014 for achieving the highest number of paid employment outcomes. As an IPS supervisor, I had supported delivery of services across Auckland. During my time as team leader, this team grew from 10 employment specialists to 26.
Do you have any closing comments?
I’m genuinely excited about the opportunity to connect with the sector and contribute to the vibrant tapestry of the IPS community in Aotearoa .
I hope to continue the fantastic work achieved by my predecessors by providing valuable content, sparking engaging conversations and offering a platform for us to exchange ideas, perspectives and experiences.
